OFFERING:Loving Father, you powerfully fill the voids in our lives and You reveal your compassionate grace by the simple act of always being present.  You unselfishly feed us when we are hungry and thirsty and quietly walk with us when we feel alone.  Combine this offering with others so that all of Your children can be filled with the power of Your redeeming spirit.  In Jesus’ name, we pray.  Amen.

SONGS: Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah

“They that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength. They shall rise up on wings like Eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

“ALL things work together for good to those who love the Lord, who are called according to His purposes.” Romans 8:28

Oh, how we wish that the LORD had just put us to death while we were still in the land of Egypt. There we could sit by the pots cooking meat and eat our fill of bread. Instead, you’ve brought us out into this desert to starve this whole assembly to death. (Exodus 16:2-3)

“Why have you treated your servant so badly? And why haven’t I found favor in your eyes, for you have placed the burden of all these people on me? . . . I can’t bear this people on my own. They’re too heavy for me. If you’re going to treat me like this, please kill me.” (Numbers 11:11, 14-15)

“We entered the land to which you sent us. It’s actually full of milk and honey, and this is its fruit. There are, however, [don’t you hate that word!] powerful people who live in the land. The cities have huge fortifications” (Exodus 13:27-28).

“We can’t go up against the people because they are stronger than we . . . All the people we saw in it are huge men  . . . We saw ourselves as grasshoppers, and that’s how we appeared to them.” (Number 13:30-33)

“Take the staff, and … speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.”  “So Moses took the staff from the LORD’s presence, just as He commanded him and said ‘Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?’ Then…he raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.” Numbers 20:9-11

“Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them” (Numbers 20:12).

For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ. Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. 1 Corinthians 10:4

Refreshing, renewing, resurrecting Lord of the waters,

ALL: Forgive me.

Forgive us for becoming stagnant in our spiritual lives. What once were living waters has now become dark and dirty, certainly not clean enough to drink.

ALL: Forgive me.

Forgive us when we rush the rapids so violently from one task to the next and never see the scenery or hear Your voice above our own foamy waters and roaring waves.

ALL: Forgive me.

Forgive us when our banks overflow by taking on too many things that replace You as our priority, threatening to drown those around us with all our selfishness.

ALL: Forgive me.

Forgive us for not returning to You when we dry up, trickle, barely move in the dusty dry cracks of our own river beds.

ALL: Forgive me.

Fill our dead, empty pools with abundant life again.

ALL: Refresh us.

Slow our rapids to the pace You intend.

ALL: Renew us.

Train our tributaries to flow from You and not the chaos of stormy life.

ALL: Restore us.

Show us where You want us to go.

ALL: Redirect us.

Resurrecting Lord of the waters, hear our repentant prayer in this moment of silence we pray. SILENCE

People of God: the Good Lord of the Waters has heard your prayer. May the peace of Christ be upon you now. Amen.

SONG: LET US BREAK BREAD TOGETHER: Jason will get the children will return to sanctuary

COMMUNION: Breaking of the Bread

BENEDICTION: God of the covenant, we give thanks for your enduring presence in our lives. Help us to be aware that you are with us in our wilderness wanderings and please, Lord, walk alongside us, both in our wanderings and as we seek to be ever closer to the Promised Land. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen
